Twisted games and rotten flowers
If I count those wasted hours
leading to the day I met
You blooming in the midst of winter
I pick and pick apart the days
One wave goes forth, the tide falls back
The tide falls back beyond the year
When you were there and I was here
You reach way down, black sand to gather
I rise with waves, on rocks I shatter
Sea and flower meet at dawn
The moon shines bright, the bay forlorn
Sun and moon they bear the tide
it comes and goes and flows and breaks
in waves
in waves, in waves we wake
I wake to loving you one day
and though I shouldn’t, couldn’t feel
this way I do
I fear, I keep it hidden
I bury words beneath the sand
I hide precisely the forbidden
waves release them in the end
the moon brings ebb eventually
there is no shore for you and me
is what I pray to soothe the sea
in waves
in waves, in waves I wake
to longing for you anyways
the tides turn on a summer day
my words get strewn among the bay
poems written in black sand
I’ve loved you dearly, till the end
You dive and rise, as we collide
in searing kisses, bitter pride
the sand dries out beneath my feet
I crash and crash and crash again
no tide – the moon turned obsolete
the deserts golden gown
it covers sand
and rocks and moon and water
Have I lost you, to the sea?
I plead for you to answer me
the sea lays silent as love wilts
I pray for waves and curse my guilt
To waves
and waves and waves, we wake
the moon rises for the sun to sink
but far beyond the sand and rocks
waits our horizon’s equinox
and fire linings mark the place
where sun and moon meet face to face
One wave goes forth, the tide falls back
for you and only you I wait
down by the shore
tomorrow and the day before
a million times a million more
in waves
in waves, in waves I wait
to watch the tides that we’ll create
